Mobile services revenue in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is set for a steady compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4 per cent over 2025-2030, as surging demand for high-volume data plans and widespread 5G adoption reshape the market’s growth dynamics. This shift, from declining voice revenues to rapidly rising data usage, signals a decisive transition toward premium, data-centric consumer behaviour, forecasts GlobalData, the data and analytics company.
GlobalData’s United Arab Emirates Mobile Broadband Forecast (Q3 2025) reveals that the mobile voice service revenue will decline at a CAGR of 4.1 per cent between 2025 and 2030 as preference for internet/app-based voice services increase.
Mobile data service revenue, on the other hand, will increase at a healthy CAGR of 7.4 per cent over the same period, offsetting the decline in mobile voice service revenues. This growth will be primarily driven by the increasing adoption of higher average revenue per user (ARPU)-5G services and premium high-volume data-centric plans.
Srikanth Vaidya, Telecom Analyst at GlobalData, commented: “The average monthly mobile data usage in the UAE is expected to increase from 12.9GB in 2025 to 35GB in 2030, led by the growing consumption of online video and social media content over smartphones.”
GlobalData is optimistic about the country’s mobile broadband services outlook with 5G services leading the way. 5G subscriptions are estimated to account for a majority 80 per cent share of the total mobile subscriptions in 2030, driven by the ongoing 5G network expansions by MNOs, and subsequent increase in availability of 5G services.
M2M/IoT subscriptions will grow from 4 million in 2025 to 6.7 million in 2030, driven by the establishment of free trade zones, industry collaborations, and the government’s push for 5G, which is critical for enabling for several M2M/IoT applications. For instance, e& UAE offers M2M & IoT connectivity services for applications in smart manufacturing, predictive maintenance, Industrial IoT & edge computing, supply chain optimisation and robotic automation.
e& UAE led the mobile services market in 2025 and will retain its leading position through 2030, primarily driven by its strong focus on the M2M/IoT segment and accelerated pace of its 5G network expansions.
Vaidya concluded: “The UAE’s mobile market is entering a high-value phase where escalating 5G adoption, rising data intensity, and expanding IoT ecosystems will collectively redefine operator revenue models. Providers that prioritize advanced networks and enterprise digitalisation will be best positioned to capture the next wave of sustainable growth.”
