Loved-up Brits can say 'AI-do' and get married using their mobile phone for just £160. An AI-powered super app in the UAE called TAMM allows anyone in the world to access its new virtual marriage feature. It can process a marriage from start to finish, including registration, ID authentication, booking the officiator and the virtual ceremony, in as little as 24 hours.Alongside the virtual marriage services the app launched AutoGov, which gives each of its 3.6 million users access to their own AI civil servant. As part of Abu Dhabi's aim to become the world's first fully AI-native government by 2027, the feature takes care of tasks such as arranging healthcare appointments or renewing IDs.It also allows people to book MOTs, including car collection and delivery if required.
Dr. Mohamed Al Askar, the director general of TAMM, said: "We launched AutoGov, the world's first AI public servant, on TAMM to make interacting with the government as effortless as possible. Now that seamless, AI-powered ecosystem also applies to marriages.
"Though the majority of services and features are only relative to those living in Abu Dhabi, the virtual marriage service is open to anyone in the world, regardless of whether they're in the emirate or not and it can all be completed using just a phone. Through the secure video link, they can also share the ceremony with friends and family in all four corners of the globe at the same time."That's the power of technology and why Abu Dhabi is embracing AI to drastically increase efficiencies, simplify paperwork and processes and give people back their time."Overseen by the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, the new marriage service is available to any citizen, visitor or resident. Ceremonies can be held in person or remotely over a secure WebEx link. All required parties including two witnesses and the licensed officiant, known as a Mathoon in the UAE, can join from a mobile, with guests able to dial in remotely too. Couples don't need to be in the UAE to complete the process so long as they assign a power of attorney in the country to attend as well. For an extra £60, non-citizens can use TAMM's AI-enabled features to automatically attest the certificate through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and dispatch a digital version, which is legally valid in their home country. It is one of 1,100 services offered on TAMM, which Abu Dhabi says exemplifies its vision to become the world's first fully AI-native government by 2027. Since allowing foreigners to get legally married in 2021, Abu Dhabi has recorded a surge in ceremonies. With low costs, easy-to-attest documentation and technology being used to slash the paperwork process, more than 45,000 people have tied the knot in the UAE capital in the past four years.
